An Integrative Person-Centred
Registered Counsellor

EXPERIENCE

I have had a 40-year career in UK and International Fiduciary Operations and Client Management, culminating in being Director for IT-based product development, Group Operations Director, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Information Officer and Chief Executive Officer whilst also mentoring other professionals.

I have had Client-facing roles as well as Operational and Human Resourcing roles, working closely with consultants, accountants, lawyers, software developers, private equity managers and other professionals.

I am well-versed in the practical issues of employee stress, anxiety, depression, intra/inter-team relationship management and the impact of disciplinary and redundancy processes.

With a desire to help and support others, I chose to retire early and engage in the extensive training that facilitates becoming a professional counsellor. I am in my 3rd year of  working for Guernsey Counselling Service (GCS : https://www.empathy.org.gg/ )  a charity for Guernsey residents unable to afford counselling. My private practice serves a wider range of clients who fall outside the criteria of the charities provision.

I have also been employed as a Hospital Chaplain for 7 years, focusing most of my attention on the residential mental health wards, and consequently have a good understanding of mental health issues, particularly of Dementia and Altzheimers and their impacts on individuals and their families and those who care for them either professionally or in a voluntary capacity. My chaplaincy was primarily from a non-religious standpoint,  unless faith or religion were important to those with whom I met.

I am currently one of two churchwardens at the largest anglican church on Guernsey and working regularly with the substantial and varied staff team there as well as being on the leadership team of a local bereavement support group.
